Michael King is an internationally recognised district energy specialist. He was a founding director and long-term chairman of Aberdeen Heat & Power Co, a not-for-profit organisation developing and operating district energy systems to address fuel poverty in the city of Aberdeen. He works with a wide range of municipalities and agencies providing guidance and advice on the development of district energy projects, and has been retained as a specialist advisor on many Government-backed support and capital investment programmes. He has produced guidance materials on the development of district energy projects that have been publish in the UK, USA and Canada. Presently he is collaborating with the University of Edinburgh on a major study on the development of district energy in towns and cities throughout the UK.
A longstanding fuel poverty campaigner, he is a past chairman of the National Right to Fuel Campaign and served on the board of Energy Action Scotland.
